Two civilizational architectures in competition. Architecture A: centralized models, proprietary data, surveillance feedback loops, social credit by another name. Architecture B: open-weight models, sovereign data, local-first computing, federated identity. Neither has won, and open weights are not at parity — they trail the closed frontier by roughly seven months. Both are being built at once.
